This is the home of Alvin C. York. York and his wife, Gracie, raised their children (two daughters and five sons) after the conclusion of World War I. After Sgt. York’s death in 1964, his wife remained in the home until her death in 1984. In accordance with her husband’s wishes, she sold the home and farm to the State of Tennessee for use of a state park.
