Congrats! You Discovered White Plains

Revolutionary War officer, William Quarles settled here around 1809. He built a house, barns, a general store, blacksmith shop, school, and later set up a post office. When Putnam County was established in 1842, this site served as a county seat. His grandson, Stephen D. Burton built this home before 1860.
