Congrats! You Discovered Black Bess

After Confederate General John Hunt Morgan’s command coming from Lebanon on May 5th, 1862, Union General Ebenezer Dumont’s troops surprised them but Morgan’s men escaped to the north, rushing towards the Cumberland River. Washed ashore and rusted, lies an old ferry boat. Similarly, during a “hot pursuit” Confederates succeeded in reaching the Cumberland River, luckily for them they found a ferry that was anchored on their side of the river. In their escape, they left behind many horses, including Confederate General John Hunt Morgan’s favorite, Black Bess
